Gathering Space Bench Meeting September 18

Logan Park Gathering Space Bench Meeting September 18, 7pm @ Logan Park

You are invited to Logan Park, September 18th at 7pm, to meet Kyle Fokken artist of the Gathering Space Bench.

Kyle will introduce you to the project with a small mock-up of the bench and answer your questions. The open-circular, multi-level bench is intended to attract folks to sit and interact. Colored lights within the bench are timed for evening and nighttime hours adding a warm, glowing ambiance to the space around it.

The purpose of The Gathering Space is to provide a new experience in the park, a place for neighbors to meet new friends. Kyle’s bench design was inspired to create an outdoor “third space” to bring people together. This was not just in response to the pandemic, but also as a way for us to take a break from digital devices and get to know each other. Kyle incorporated motifs of local fauna as a way to remind us we are still part of the natural world.  The Gathering Space bench presentation is in advance of a neighborhood vote for approval set for October.

The funding for this project is from Logan Park Neighborhood Association, via Neighborhood Revitalization Program (NRP) funding.
