The Bench, The Birch, and The Owl: LPNA Community Engagement Meeting 4/19

The Bench, The Birch, and The Owl: LPNA Community Engagement Meeting 4/19
Come check out the “Gathering Space” functional art project for the park on April 19th. Over 5 years ago, the neighborhood planning process identified an “artistic light project” for the park. After many conversations with MPRB staff and hours of research, we have submitted a proposal – designed  by local sculpture artist, Kyle Fokken (kylefokken.com).  Kyle has designed many outdoor projects and is very excited to create one for his own neighborhood. Below is a model of the project showing the bench and trees. The bench will have multi-levels to accommodate different ages, abilities and uses. At night, the bench will be lit from underneath with colored LED lights. The trees will also have “eyes’ – and an owl!

Please stop in to see the model at the LPNA meeting on Wednesday, April 19 at 7pm, meet the artist, and offer your thoughts on the project.

The concept for this project is to create an alcove for conversations and community – with an element of fun and whimsy. Something much needed these days!

The top of the bench will have cut outs of various animal textures. We’re looking for input on the textures and other aspects of the project. Please email LPNA questions and feedback if you are unable to attend Wednesday, April 19, 7pm.
