Logan Park Garden Tool Swap – May 14, 2022 9am -12pm Logan Park Neighborhood Association is partnering again with the City of Minneapolis to host the Garden Tool Swap. On Saturday, May 14, 2022 from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m., neighbors can bring any unwanted garden and yard tools (shovels, trowels, rakes, etc.), pots and planters, gardening and plant books, garden art and décor, bird houses/feeders, gloves, potting mixes, seeds, etc. to the Garden Tool Swap.
Items not allowed include: chemicals of any kind (chemical fertilizers, pesticides, weed killers, bug killers, etc.), mowers or power tools, broken items, items too large to carry (like ladders) and used soil from yard or garden (pots must be empty). Solid Waste & Recycling will handle the disposal of any unusable items.
Mural Celebration Event New murals are complete at Beltrami Park, Logan Park, and Northeast Park! Join the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB), BNC, LPNA, NEPNA, and your Northeast neighbors and public art appreciators for a Grand Unveiling Event at Northeast Park on Saturday, Nov. 6, 2-4 pm!
The event will feature live music, entertainment, food, and drink for everyone to enjoy! The celebration will be held next to the mural painted on the exterior of the restroom building along 14th Avenue NE, between Pierce and Buchanan Streets NE.
About the Murals
The murals were designed and painted by Northeast Minneapolis-based Creatives After Curfew. Artists include Maiya Lea Hartman, Leslie Barlow, Maria Robinson, Clau Valentino, Silent Fox, Thomasina Topbear (City Mischief), with coordination by Taylan De Johnette and Tricia Heuring.
Details were based on community engagement done by the artists and neighborhood organizations. Each mural highlights people, diversity, equity and inclusion in Northeast Minneapolis, while reflecting the identity, personality and uniqueness of each neighborhood. MPRB staff applied an anti-graffiti coating on top of the murals after they were completed.
Logan Park mural is located on the south-facing wall of Logan Recreation Center. Sponsored, funded and maintained by Logan Park Neighborhood Association.
Beltrami Park mural is located on the north-facing wall of the main park building, next to the playground and wading pool. Sponsored, funded and maintained by Beltrami Neighborhood Council.
Northeast Athletic Field Park mural is located on the restroom building just north of 14th Avenue NE, between two baseball fields. The design wraps around all four exterior walls. Sponsored, funded and maintained by Northeast Park Neighborhood Association.
Join us on Wednesday October 13 from 6pm-7:30pm at the Logan Park Performance Pavilion! We will celebrate our donors and volunteers with treats from MN Nice Cream and music from the Southside Aces.
CleanSweep is Back! September 18, 2021 9AM-NOON Logan Park Neighborhood Association has held a neighborhood CleanSweep almost every year for a quarter of a century. After last year’s hiatus, we’re back at it! And we need your help! Join us Saturday, September 18 from 9AM to noon. It’s sure to be a fun, community event that truly makes a difference! Plan to wear light or brightly colored, protective clothing as well as gloves and hard-soled shoes with good ankle support. Sunscreen is encouraged as we’ll be outside for the duration of the CleanSweep. A long-sleeved top and long pants are recommended.
The Minneapolis CleanSweep program is a partnership effort between Solid Waste and Recycling and the Logan Park community to help clean up your neighborhood. The entire community can clean out garages, sheds, attics, basements, yards, alleyways and boulevards leaving your area sparkling! Leave your items for pick up in your normal refuse area by 9AM on September 18.
ACCEPTABLE ITEMS include: arm chair, ashes-cold (double bag), clothing (unusable rags) couch, (under 50% metal – no hide-a-bed), carpet, dresser, end table, food scraps furniture parts, glass-broken (double bag, paper, then plastic), household garbage, litter, pet droppings (double bagged), polystyrene foam, saw dust (double bagged), storm doors-wood, venetian blinds, wood storm windows, wood chairs, wood table.
We need volunteers! Volunteers should meet at the Logan Park Performance Pavilion at 8:45 am on September 18th. Volunteers will be provided coffee,donuts, and lunch!
There’s A New Performance Pavilion in the Park! If you’ve been by Logan Park recently, you’ve noticed something different: a brand-new performance pavilion! The pavilion has been three years in the making, and on Sunday, August 22, 2021 volunteers from the neighborhood, Spark-Y, and members of the Edison High School football team came together to help hoist the massive timbers into place. The timber framed structure will provide space for outdoor gatherings as well as stage performances in the park. Participants and spectators for the many athletic events and activities in Logan Park will also be able to enjoy the pavilion as a gathering area.
Funding for the pavilion was provided by NRP funds, Elim Church, People for Parks, local businesses, and individual donations. This project would not have been possible without numerous, dedicated volunteers and the following community partners: Clark Bremer, Jon Duesman (MPRB), Carrie Christensen (MPRB), Pat Vogel, Mike Ferrin, Kevin Reich, Mike Vennewitz, Spark-Y Youth Labs (Miranda Wood, Tatiana Hakanson, Sam Menzies), David Salzar and the Edison Football Team. Logan Park Neighborhood Association (LPNA) with Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board (MPRB) intends to build a timber framed performance pavilion at Logan Park this Summer! As part of our Neighborhood Priority Planning Process over the last two years, the community has identified Park Projects as a top priority, and creating a focal point for the neighborhood.
The pavilion will serve multiple purposes. It will serve as a picnic shelter; where residents, schools, and community groups gather for picnics and outdoor events. Participants and spectators for the many athletic activities in the park will enjoy the pavilion as a shady area as well. Perhaps most exciting is the opportunity for performance activities, and bringing a whole new level of engagement to the park and neighborhood. LPNA will work with MPRB to develop programming with local artists and community groups to expand on our already well-attended events such as Movies in the Park and Jazz in the Park.
The most important thing our new performance pavilion will bring is a greater sense of community for all Logan Park residents. We need your help to turn this vision into a reality! How you can help:

Join us for a Mural Visioning Walk on June 13th at 1 pm!
Logan Park Neighborhood Association (LPNA), Beltrami Neighborhood Council (BNC), Northeast Park Neighborhood Association (NEPNA) has selected Creatives After Curfew to paint murals on the buildings in Logan Park, Beltrami Park, and Northeast Park this year!
The artists want to kick off the project and meet with neighbors to get ideas for the mural designs through a special “Mural Visioning Walk” on Sunday, June 13th. Meet outside the Logan Park Recreation Center at 1 pm and walk with your neighbors to each mural location. There will be activities and prizes along the way! Meet the artists, share your ideas, and see the planned mural sites.

Meeting at Logan Park Recreation CenterThe Logan Park Walking Club has transitioned to a monthly walking clean up of the Logan Park Neighborhood. Meet your neighbors at Logan Park Recreation Center on Saturday June 19th to clean up the neighborhood. Glove and supplies will be provided.
LPNA has identified public art as a neighborhood priority. LPNA is working with Beltrami and NE Park Neighborhoods on a mural program for 2021. The first secured space is Jackson Flats Building, 901 18 1/2 Ave NE, Minneapolis, MN 55418.
Jac Flats Mural
The RFQ for submissions for the mural at the Jac Flats building have gone out (see below). Artspace sent out to the artists in Jac Flats first and then the artists in their other spaces/communities. After March 25, 2021, we will convene representatives from LPNA and Artspace to review the submissions and narrow it down to 3 muralists.

Logan Park Neighborhood Association invites experienced public artists/teams to submit qualifications for the design and installation of a unique mural at Artspace Jackson Flats located at 901 18 1/2 Ave NE, Minneapolis, MN 55418. We would like to bring a message of community and racial justice, with a focus on equity, diversity, and inclusion to this project. The mural will engage and help to enrich the neighborhood with public art.
Qualifications or requirements
This Request for Qualifications (RFQ) is open to experienced Minnesota-based public artists/teams. Priority will be given to Minneapolis artists/teams, artists from the BIPOC community, and those who have mural experience. Applicants are welcome from the state of Minnesota and should have an understanding of or experience with murals and public art installations that address racial justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion. Applicants must be willing to work through a community engagement process for design and implementation.

Logan Park Shelter Initiative Updated 2.5.21 In the summer of 2020, Logan Park was the location of one of many encampments of unsheltered populations in parks throughout Minneapolis. Community members, both housed and unhoused, faced numerous chal-lenges in accessing needed resources and support.
The board of the LPNA has expressed a desire to work together to better understand the needs of unsheltered community members and prepare an action plan for neighborhood actions that can be undertaken to support the sheltered and unsheltered community. LPNA steering committee members have developed a contract and scope of work with Asakura Robinson to facilitate the project. This contract has now been approved by the LPNA Board and vetted/approved by Minneapolis Neighborhood and Community Relations (NCR) staff. LPNA and Asakura Robinson have part-nered on other projects in the past and have built a relationship which we believe will help with this im-portant work.
We expect the project to take place over the next six months. An interim findings deliverable will be created after three months and an action plan document will be developed at the end of the project , which we will share widely.
An initial planning meeting is occurring at the end of January to review potential group makeup, document member expectations, review questions for initial interviews, and start planning out meetings and timelines.Anyone who has already expressed interest in being part of the initiative can expect to be contacted in early February by phone or email.
